An annual air defense drill will be held in seven cities and counties in northern Taiwan on Monday. That’s the word from the National Police Agency (NPA) Saturday. During the drill, people will be required to stay indoors and traffic controls will be imposed.
The Wanan drill will be held in Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan and Hsinchu cities and Yilan and Hsinchu counties between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on April 18.
The agency said that during the 30-minute period, those who are at home should close their doors and windows and turn off electricity and natural gas lines.
People who work outdoors should follow instructions on entering public shelters, and vehicles should pull over and wait at the roadside.
As for public transportation, the High Speed Rail and Taiwan Railways services will operate normally, but passengers who get off trains during the half-hour period should remain at the station until the all-clear signal is given.
