The Honolulu-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has withdrawn a tsunami warning for Taiwan. The warning was issued in the wake of a magnitude 7.7 earthquake which jolted Ecuador on Saturday.
The tsunami warning center, which is part of an international tsunami warning system program, lifted the alert for Taiwan at just before 11 am on Sunday.
Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Sunday said that the tsunami warning center had predicted the earthquake which struck Ecuador could trigger a destructive tsunami in the coastal areas of Ecuador and Columbia, situated 300 kilometers from the quake's epicenter.
