President Ma Ying-jeou has spoken about Taiwanese creativity at the opening ceremony of the 2016 Creative Expo Taiwan.
The expo is taking place at three different creative parks in Taipei. It features the design and lifestyle exhibitions of 638 companies from 20 countries, connecting different industries and providing companies with opportunities to explore new markets.
Ma said that the Expo has grown since its first opening in 2010. The number of attendees had tripled by 2015. Meanwhile, the amount bought and sold at the event has grown from NT$160 million to NT$400 million.
“Taiwanese people have enormous creative talent. Our designs and inventions often win top awards in international exhibitions. The biggest challenge for us is to turn our ideas into merchandise, into part of [people’s] lifestyles. This Creative Expo is connecting [creativity to products]," said Ma.
