Vice Premier Woody Duh says that Taiwan needs more cybersecurity experts. He was speaking Monday at the 12th Hacks in Taiwan Conference (HITCON).

Duh said he respects the early efforts of HITCON participants who created the platform to foster growth in the hacker community.

“Cybersecurity experts cannot be trained via traditional education, and HITCON is a very important platform for hackers to learn from each other," said Duh, "This type of organization allows Taiwanese hackers to participate in international hacking competitions, and is critical for training high-end cybersecurity experts. Though it’s a civic group, the government will fully support its efforts to foster talent for Taiwan.”

Duh said he hopes Taiwan’s hackers can win more prizes in international competitions.
