Taiwan has asked Vietnam to set up a single channel of communication about compensation for Taiwanese facilities damaged in rioting.
Anti-China riots swept parts of Vietnam earlier this month. Rioters targeted factories and offices with Chinese writing on them, including Taiwanese companies.
Cabinet spokesman Sun Lih-chyun said that the Cabinet hopes that Vietnam’s government will open a single channel of communication to discuss compensation.
"There are some things that are not clear right now that we hope to clarify," said Sun. "We want to ensure that the central government and local governments [in Vietnam] will speak with one voice and act together. Some areas have opened channels of communication while others have not. We want the central government of Vietnam to implement these things."
The Cabinet held a meeting Friday to discuss the details of Taiwan’s efforts to secure compensation for companies affected by the rioting.
