Average annual income for service sector jobs reaches US$14,800

A recent survey by a local job bank has shown that average annual pay in Taiwan's service sector has grown to around NT$477,000 (US$14,800). The survey's organizer, 1111 Job Bank, says that the service sector accounts for about half of all jobs in Taiwan.

The job bank says that most of people working in the service sector have jobs in the food service, retail, or transportation industries. Whereas the public once regarded service sector jobs as low-paying, they now take a more positive view. That's because the mobility rate in the service sector has been on the rise, and senior employees in service sector jobs have enjoyed high wage growth.

The job bank says that many workers in the sector have benefited from a peak season effect in which they can see their wages increase, raising the popularity of service sector careers among jobseekers.
