Cabinet Spokesman Sun Lih-chyun says that the Cabinet will resign en masse on May 12. That's in preparation for the swearing-in of the President-elect Tsai Ing-wen on May 20.

Sun said that Premier Chang San-cheng will call the final meeting of his Cabinet on May 12 before tendering the Cabinet's resignation to President Ma Ying-jeou later that day.

Sun added that the government will then enter into a week-long transitional period before the Tsai administration is sworn in on May 20.

Chang assumed his post as premier on February 1. By the time of his planned resignation on May 12, he will have served for three months and 12 days, the shortest premiership since 1949.
