Chinese entertainer Lu Han was found filming a TV show in Taiwan without authorization as he is here on an independent tourist visa. Immigration officials say this could lead to an up to five-year ban on Lu visiting Taiwan.
Media reports said Lu spent all of Tuesday filming for the TV show “Go to Schooll”, a reality program about campus life. Immigration official Hsu Jian-lin said this was not the activity that he applied for upon entry:
"If he really was filming or engaged in promotional activities, then those activities are different than the purpose of his visit. He could be banned from visiting Taiwan for up to five years," said Hsu.
Hsu said in the past, Lu had applied as a professional to come to Taiwan for short-term work purposes. Lu’s troupe knows they broke the law and stopped filming on Tuesday. The producers also apologized on Weibo for not going through the appropriate procedures to work in Taiwan. It said it is discussing the issue with immigration officials and take responsibility for the situation.
