The transition of power from the Kuomintang administration to the incoming Democratic Progressive Party government is set to be completed by mid-May. That’s the word from incoming Cabinet spokesperson Tung Chen-yuan on Tuesday.

Tung said the Public Construction Commission, the National Palace Museum, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, and the Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs Commission have all completed the transfer. Tung said eight other government agencies are scheduled to have their transition of power this week.

There will be no transition of power for independent bodies. They include Taiwan’s central bank, the National Communications Commission, the Fair Trade Commission as well as the Central Election Commission.

As the president is vested with authority over the Defense Ministry, the Foreign Ministry and the Mainland Affairs Council, the schedule for the transition has yet to be arranged.
