Shares in Taiwan closed lower Thursday but came off an early low as bargain hunters turned active to take advantage of steep falls seen in recent sessions.
The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange closed down 17.51 points, or 0.21 percent, at 8,167.96.
