Shares in Taiwan closed lower Thursday on a shrinkage in turnover as many investors stayed on the sidelines. However the weighted index remained above the 8,100-point mark despite a plunge on Wall Street overnight.
The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange closed down 27.51 points, or 0.34 percent, at 8,108.05.
