Tsai and her vice president, Chen Chien-jen, will be sworn in at 9 am on May 20 at the Presidential Office in Taipei. The legislative president, Su Jia-chyuan, will present Tsai with the seal of office.
Tsai’s first act as president will be to swear in her premier, Presidential Office secretary-general, and head of the National Security Council.
She will then greet the more than 200 members of delegations from 50 countries attending the inauguration, including 22 of Taiwan’s diplomatic allies.
The new president will then proceed outside and deliver a 30-minute inauguration speech. The event will be televised live.
