The Marriott Taipei has revealed a distinctively Taiwanese dessert arrangement for President-elect Tsai Ing-wen’s inaugural banquet.
The arrangement is designed to look like a garden. It features Taiwanese favorites including brown sugar cake, pineapple cake, and flaky pastry filled with mung beans. A Taiwanese oolong tea macaron is topped with a butterfly, a nod to the many species of butterfly found in Taiwan.
The dessert menu also features papaya milk ice cream, reportedly a favorite of the president-elect. The papayas come from Chiayi County and the milk from Tainan, both in southern Taiwan. Both were donated for the event by Tsai supporters.
The banquet will also feature Taiwanese Oriental Beauty Tea, Taiwan-grown coffee, and an award-winning Taiwanese wine.
