Archbishop Joseph Chennoth will represent the Vatican at President-elect Tsai Ing-wen’s May 20 inauguration. That’s the word from the foreign ministry on Wednesday.
The archbishop will attend Tsai’s inaugural ceremony and the state banquet to follow.
He is the latest foreign dignitary whose attendance has been confirmed. Nearly 700 dignitaries representing 59 countries will attend the inauguration ceremony. These include all 22 countries that maintain diplomatic ties with Taiwan.
