President Tsai Ing-wen has met with a delegation from Burkina Faso, led by Prime Minister Paul Kaba Thieba.
During the meeting on Sunday, Tsai said that Taiwan and Burkina Faso have enjoyed 22 years of diplomatic ties. She said that Taiwan’s government and people appreciate the support Burkina Faso has given to Taiwan's goal of joining international organizations.
Tsai said she hopes Burkina Faso will continue to speak up for Taiwan in the international community, and that the two sides will continue to work together closely.
Tsai also said she hopes that Burkina Faso’s recently elected president, Roch Marc Christian Kabore, will visit Taiwan in the near future and strengthen ties between the two nations.
