Taiwan has signed a reciprocal driver's license agreement with the US state of Nevada. It is the 17th US state with which Taiwan has forged such an accord. That’s the word from the foreign ministry on Thursday.
Taiwan’s representative office in San Francisco signed the agreement with the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles on Wednesday. The accord took effect immediately. Taiwan is the first foreign government to sign such an agreement with the western US state.
Taiwanese nationals who are valid driver's license holders can enjoy exemption from a road test when they apply for a license in Nevada. They will still have to pass a written test.
The reciprocal agreement will make it more convenient for Taiwanese businesspeople, students and academics in Nevada to live, study and work there.
