The government’s economic outlook indicator registered a slight improvement in April over the figure for March. That was the word from the National Development Council (NDC) on Friday.
The increase was mostly due to the rising value of imports in the mechanics and electrical equipment sector.
NDC official Wu Ming-hui said Taiwan’s economy is still sluggish with no signs of a recovery. She said the global economy also has yet to show steady and visible signs of growth.
In order to boost the economy, Taiwan’s government has decided to push for closer trade ties with India and ASEAN nations countries. Other measures to attract investment and boost exports include setting up a national investment company and a special fund for innovative industries.
