The government office for pension reform was officially established on Wednesday. The office will be headed by Minister without Portfolio Lin Wan-i.
Premier Lin Chuan visited the office and told the team that the public has high expectations for the pension reform plan. Lin said he hopes they can come up with a consensus on the plan within one year. Cabinet spokesman Tung Chen-yuan spoke on the premier’s expectations.
"Premier Lin said that pension reform is a historical move," said Tung. "He appreciates Minister without Portfolio Lin Wan-i taking on the responsibility to be the expert in pension reform. In the past, there were many challenges to reform. To come to a consensus within a year will take the synergy of the personnel in the office and the stamina of the team to help Minister Lin move this work forward."
Premier Lin said the government and relevant agencies would also support the office in creating this plan.
