Shares in Taiwan took a beating to close below the 8,600-point mark Monday, reflecting volatility in global financial markets caused by fears that the United Kingdom will vote to exit the European Union later this month.
Taiwan shares closed down 179.26 points, or 2.06 percent, at 8,536.22 on Monday.
