Taiwan has 34 universities that made it into the UK QS ranking of the top 350 universities in Asia.
National University of Singapore was number one while the University of Hong Kong came in second. National Taiwan University was 21st, one spot higher than last year and the highest-ranked Taiwan university. Taiwan was 4th in terms of the number of universities on the list. China had 82 universities on the list, while Japan had 74 and South Korea 54.
In Taiwan, National Tsinghua University was ranked 31; National Chiao Tung University ranked 38; National Cheng Kung University ranked 39 and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology ranked 50.
QS survey director Ben Sowter said that Taiwan’s universities improved in the area of research with 26 universities increasing their influence in that area.
Rounding out the top ten were Nanyang Technological University, Singapore at number 3 followed by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, China’s Tsinghua University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Peking University and Seoul University.
