President Tsai Ing-wen is set to set off on Thursday on a visit to two of Taiwan’s allies in Latin America: Panama and Paraguay.
In order to help the delegation beat the heat, the foreign ministry has prepared special shirts for the delegation.
The Latin American shirts, called Guayabera, are long-sleeved shirts made from light-colored linen. They have a straight hem along the bottom, so they do not need to be tucked in. They can also be worn without a suit coat.
A foreign ministry spokesperson said that the shirts can also offer protection from mosquitos, and will come in handy during outdoor events.
