Sodagreen wins big at the Golden Melody Awards
Sodagreen wins big!

Taiwanese pop band Sodagreen was the biggest winner at the Golden Melody Awards on Saturday – that’s the Mandopop industry’s version of the Grammys.

Sodagreen’s album “Winter Endless” entered the competition with eight nominations, and went on to win Best Mandarin Album, Best Band, Best Lyrics, Best Producer and Best Arrangement.

The album – the band’s 10th studio album – was a collaboration with GermanPops Orchestra. It was the last of four concept albums created as part of the band’s Project Vivaldi which was inspired by Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”.

Meanwhile, Singaporean singer-songwriter JJ Lin picked up his second Best Mandarin Male Singer title with his album "From M.E. To Myself".

Taiwanese singer Julia Peng took home her first Best Mandarin Female Singer title with her album "Darling" after what she called a “20-year wait”.

Another notable win was Best Song of the Year, which went to singer-songwriter Suming Rupi's "Aka pisawad (which means "Don't Give Up" in the Amis language). It was the first time that the song of the year was sung in an indigenous language.
