The founder of Taiwan’s Ju Percussion Group, Ju Tzong-ching, has won entry to the Percussive Arts Society’s Hall of Fame. The achievement is considered the highest international honor for a percussion player.
Ju said the award represented a recognition of percussion music in Taiwan.
Ju said, "The significance of this award is that it affirms not just me and my group. I feel it shows that Taiwan has a place in world percussion, that it has a definite role to play."
Ju founded Ju Percussion Group over 30 years ago. He becomes only the second person from Asia to enter the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame after Keiko Abe from Japan.
Ju’s formal induction to the Hall of Fame will take place in Indianapolis in the United States in November.
