Premier Lin Chuan has welcomed an amendment to the Labour Standards Act which allows more flexibility for days off.
The Cabinet approved a draft amendment to the Labour Standards Act on Thursday. The draft includes a higher overtime pay scheme and a more flexible solution for days off. It states that all workers need to have two days off per week, one of which is mandatory and one which can be negotiated for overtime.
The premier said Friday that the Cabinet has listened to opinions and complaints from the public. He said he believes the draft is the right move.
“The amendment to the Labour Standards Act is an important milestone in our society’s advancement. There will be more room for improvement in the future and we will continue to work on it," said Lin.
