Super Typhoon Nepartak has weakened to a tropical depression after ravaging parts of southern Taiwan. But it hasn’t taken all of the rain with it.
The Central Weather Bureau says there is more rain in the schedule for northern Taiwan. Forecasters say that the rain system brought by Super Typhoon Nepartak is moving north from southern Taiwan, which was hardest hit by the storm.
As of Sunday morning, the southern areas of Kaohsiung and Pingtung had already recorded over 100 millimeters of rain.
Forecasters were predicting that southwesterly winds will increase in strength across Taiwan between Sunday and Tuesday, while central and southeastern Taiwan will see thunderstorms and sporadic showers during the first half of the week.

The bureau has issued a torrential rain warning for Chiayi, Yunlin, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung, while a heavy rain warning is in place for Changhua, Taitung and Penghu.
