Taipei is set to begin counting down to the 2017 Summer Universiade with a public celebration on Wednesday.
The Universiade is a series of global athletic competitions for university students held once every two years. Wednesday’s event, scheduled to take place at Taipei City Hall Square, will mark one year before the games begin. Event organizers hope that activities introducing the competitions and attractions such as a model of the athletes’ village will help get Taipei residents into the spirit for the games. During the event, volunteers will also march in a parade and put on performances for visitors.
