Legislature president working to ease divisions between parties
A long session

Legislature President Su Chia-chyuan says he is trying to facilitate negotiations to ease divisions between different political parties.

Su was speaking Wednesday at the Legislature, where the process of putting different proposals to vote has gone on uninterrupted for more than 24 hours. The plan is for the session to go on for 82 hours. This grueling process is the result of over 2,400 proposals for budget cuts submitted by different parties.

Su said that while it is normal for different parties to voice diverging views on issues, they should do so in moderation. He is inviting party representatives to sit down and negotiate in order to reach agreements on certain issues, and minimize the number of proposals that need to be put to vote.
