The remains of the last victim of last week’s deadly tour bus fire were returned home to China on Thursday.

Four family members boarded a plane for Harbin in northeastern China. The party was accompanied by immigration, tourism and cross-strait officials who assisted with immigration clearance.

The remains of all 24 members of the tour group who perished in last week’s tragic accident have now been returned to their homes in China.

The tragedy occurred on Tuesday last week as the tour group, which traveled to Taiwan from Dalian, was preparing to return home after an eight-day visit. A fire engulfed their tour bus, claiming the lives of all 24 members of their party, as well as the local driver and tour guide. The cause of the tragedy is still under investigation and has prompted a government review of safety issues in Taiwan’s tourism industry.
