The Air Force will hold an open day at its base in Hualien on Saturday, August 13. Taiwan’s most advanced fighter planes will be on display, along with Apache helicopters and other weapons systems.

The open day falls on the day before the Republic of China Air Force Day, which falls on August 14.

Colonel Lin Kuo-pin of the 401st Tactical Fighter Wing, based in Hualien, described the day’s planned events. Lin said, "We will start off at 9 in the morning with a display of five fighters, including F-16, IDF and Mirage 2000 jets. We will have a performance from the air force band and dancing from indigenous performers. There will also be a special demonstration from our Thunder Tigers aerial display team. In the afternoon we will have five F-16 fighters conduct a low-level flyby over the venue.

Visitors to the open day will also be able to see the domestically developed Teng Yun unmanned aerial vehicle.
