100 information stations extend hours to evening
Info station

Three years ago, the Tourism Bureau began setting up information desks at stores to help tourists with directions and other services. The idea was so successful that there are now 200 such desks throughout Taiwan.

The bureau announced on Tuesday that over 100 such stores are now extending their hours until past 8pm. That way, travelers can access services in the evening. Tourism Bureau Deputy Director Wayne Liu explained, "We hope that travelers will observe that all the information desks are designed to reflect their local culture. The concept we are promoting is that the lights are on to provide friendly service and answer any questions. Over 100 information desks now have services after 8pm. We hope that this can help international travelers with any requirements they may have on their visit to Taiwan."

The stations are operated by shops, eateries, freeway service areas and even police stations. Top inquiries the stations get are about free Wi-Fi. People also ask for maps, to take photos of visitors and travel advice.

The bureau also has made available a set of bilingual playing cards that answer 13 questions in English, Japanese, Korean and Malay.
