Taiwanese sopranos Keng Li and Liu Meng-chieh have been winning accolades for their outstanding performances in Europe. That’s the word from Taiwan’s embassy in the Holy See on Monday.

The embassy said that 29-year-old Keng received critical acclaim with her performance last month at the Bucharest National Opera, in which she played the title role of Madame Butterfly.

Meanwhile, the other 29-year-old Taiwanese soprano, Liu Meng-chieh, has been chosen by the Rome Opera Company to perform in an Italian opera called The World on the Moon, in September.

The two sopranos are both graduates of National Taiwan Normal University and are currently pursuing their doctorate degree in Rome.
