Computex Taipei to open on Tuesday
Asus CEO Jonney Shih

The world’s second largest computer trade show—Computex Taipei— will open on Tuesday. The show will last from June 3-7 and will feature technology trends that are likely to emerge in the second half of the year.

Innovative wearable devices, wireless charging, health monitoring devices, and applications associated with the "Internet of Things" are expected at the show, along with next-generation PCs, notebooks and tablets.

Taiwanese PC manufacturer Asus hosted a pre-show press conference Monday to announce its new product: Transformer Book V. Asus CEO Jonney Shih said it’s the world’s first 3-in-1 laptop, tablet, and smartphone.

“It is the world’s first 5-inch Intel 64-bit quad-core Atom Android LTE smartphone," said Shih. "And its detachable 12.5 inch Windows tablet can be used independently. The seamless device integration turns it into an amazing Android tablet. When combined with a keyboard dock, the Transformer Book V turns into an Android laptop and with a touch of instant switch key, it will turn into a powerful Windows laptop for your ultimate productivity.”

The five-day computer trade show will feature 1,700 exhibitors. Organizers say it’s expected to draw over 130,000 visitors, including 38,000 international buyers.
