Legislature President Su Jia-chyuan says he and his delegation held talks with Japanese officials on major issues during their recent visit.
Su was speaking on Friday after his delegation returned from a four-day trip to Japan the day before. He said he met with high-ranking officials from both the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and the main opposition Democratic Party.
The delegation, Su said, had addressed important issues such as the rights of Taiwanese fishers around the Okinotori atoll, the safety of Japanese food exports and regulations on Taiwanese food exports to Japan. Both sides expressed the hope to boost the number of Japanese tourists to Taiwan to over 2 million per year.
Su said both sides expressed optimism on the future of ties between the two countries.
