The National Development Council (NDC) has developed plans to foster creative talent in the mobile app industry. The council’s Deputy Minister Kung Ming-hsin said Monday that he hopes the plans will help Taiwan lead the way in the app market.
Kung said that the mobile app and game market is rapidly expanding and it presents many business opportunities. He said that the NDC’s plans include expanding education programs with online classes and attracting more foreign talent. Kung said the NDC is also looking at making changes to the Company Act to encourage entrepreneurs.
“[The plans] include a total overhaul of the Company Act, which we have already decided to undertake. The amendment may be passed next year. The second part [of the plan] is an adjustment of laws covering information security. Many mobile apps, such as airbnb and Uber, have showcased the expansion of cellphones’ functions into new realms. [We might need to] take these new trends into consideration and make changes to current laws," said Kung.
According to Kung, the NDC’s plans also include building a more robust mobile network and enhanced cybersecurity mechanisms. He said the NDC will also encourage the research and development of cutting-edge mobile technologies.
