The Presidential Office announced Tuesday that national security adviser Yao Jen-to has been appointed deputy secretary-general of the Presidential Office. The current holder of that office, Harry Tseng, is moving in other direction to be deputy head of the National Security Council (NSC).
The Presidential Office said Tseng’s diplomatic experience will help strengthen the NSC in the area of international affairs.
The statement also said that Yao Jen-to has been an important aide to President Tsai Ing-wen who has assisted in reforms related to transitional justice. The Presidential Office said that following President Tsai’s apology to the indigenous peoples of Taiwan last week, Yao will be a key figure in the follow-up work of arranging restitution measures.
