Premier to discuss weekly day off issue with labor groups
Premier Lin

Premier Lin Chuan is set to hold three meetings over the next week to canvass opinions on a variety of issues. One of those meetings, next Friday, will involve the premier sitting down with labor groups to discuss the issue of a weekly day off.

Right now Taiwan’s labor laws guarantee at least one day off every seven days. But the government is looking into introducing some flexibility in the media, transportation and leisure industries.

Cabinet spokesperson Tung Chen-yuan said Sunday that the premier’s other meetings on August 16 and 22, will involve the agriculture sector, housing justice, and environmental protection.

The three meetings with representatives from different sectors will begin at 2:30pm at the Cabinet building, and will last for three hours each. They will be broadcast live via the internet so that the public can follow discussions of the issues at hand.
