The Vocal Asia Festival kicked off in Taitung on Wednesday. Acappella groups from ten countries in Asia are participating in the biggest competition yet of its kind.
The festival is in its 6th year. 15 groups from Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea and other parts of Asia will join about 45 Taiwanese groups for the four-day festival.
The festival’s director says that Taitung, on Taiwan’s southeast coast, is the perfect place to celebrate the human voice because it produces great singers. The Vocal Asia Festival is held in a different Asian city each year.
