President Tsai Ing-wen has conveyed her condolences to Italy after a devastating earthquake rocked parts of the country on Wednesday morning.
As of Thursday, the death toll from the 6.2 magnitude earthquake has reached 247.
Presidential Office spokesperson Alex Huang said Thursday that Taiwan’s National Security Council has briefed Tsai on the disaster. Meanwhile, foreign ministry spokesperson Eleanor Wang said that Taiwan’s representative office in Rome has also sent condolences on behalf of Taiwan and its people to Italy’s foreign ministry.
