Business indicator for July shows positive signs
NDC Deputy Minister Kao Shien-quey

The Taiwan business indictor for July released by the National Development Council (NDC) has shown positive developments.

For the first time in 17 months, the indicator turned green, which signals stability. The indicator was last green in February 2015.

The NDC said Friday that that the economy has gradually recovered as the indicators for stocks, imports of machinery and electrical equipment,  wholesale, resale, trade, and the food service industry all went up.

NDC Deputy Minister Kao Shien-quey said Friday that the release of new electronic products, continued development in car electronics, the semiconductor industry’s expansion of advanced manufacturing, the government’s expansionary financial policy, and investment have all contributed to the positive trend.

Despite the slow pace of global economic recovery, Kao said that Taiwan has a chance of continuing to recover if the momentum of the stock market continues and the export market improves.
