Cabinet spokesperson Tung Chen-yuan says that the government will continue its push for reform in the face of dwindling approval ratings.
President Tsai Ing-wen’s approval rating has dropped in the three months since she took office. The rating for Premier Lin Chuan has also fallen below 50%. Tung said that the government will continue its work to reform Taiwan’s economy while keeping public opinion in mind.
When asked about the public’s concerns over Taiwan’s stagnating economy during an interview Friday, Tung said that the government plans to focus on areas including green energy, the Internet of Things, national defense, biotechnology medicine, and precision mechanics.
