Presidential Office announces Judicial Yuan posts
Hsu Tzong-li and Tsai Chung-tun

The Presidential Office has announced its nominations for top Judicial Yuan posts.

The Judicial Yuan is Taiwan’s highest judicial body.

President Tsai Ing-wen has nominated former justice Hsu Tzong-li for Judicial Yuan president and High Court judge Tsai Chung-tun for vice president.

On Thursday, Vice President Chen Chien-jen introduced the two nominees to the public.

"Mr. Hsu Tzong-li, a former justice, is a National Taiwan University law school professor. Mr. Tsai Chung-tun, a High Court judge, used to be the head of the Judges’ Association. Their partnership makes them a firm team that has both academic and practical experience. It is [my] belief that they are able to bring together academic circles, the legal community, and civic groups to push together for the judicial reform that the public has been expecting," Chen said.

The Presidential Office also announced five nominations for justices.
