Vice President Chen Chien-jen says that relations between Taiwan and the Vatican remain good. Chen is currently on a visit to the Holy See.
Chen met with high level clergymen of the Holy See on Monday. They talked about exchanges as well as humanitarian efforts. They discussed cooperation in education, culture, technology and medical needs. Chen said there was “substantive exchanges and that both countries treasure the diplomatic ties between them”.
Meanwhile, Chen exchanged greetings with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and extended an invitation to Parolin to visit Taiwan.
Chen also met with ambassadors to the Holy See, including those from Honduras, Panama, Malaysia, Japan and Croatia.
