A Taiwanese tug-of-war team won the women’s under 23 years of age 500 kg category at the 2016 Tug of War International Federation (TWIF) World Outdoor Championships in Sweden on Saturday.
The team, made up of students from National Taiwan Normal University and Taipei Jingmei Girls High School, successfully defended its fourth title in the category at this year’s championship.
There were a total of ten teams in addition to the team from Taiwan vying for gold in that category, including teams from Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Belgium, Wales, China, The Netherlands, South Africa, England and the Basque country. In the quarterfinals, the team beat Sweden before defeating the Basque team in the finals to snatch the gold.
