No application for Dalai Lama visit: Presidential Office
Taiwanese lawmaker visits Dalai Lama

The Presidential Office says the Dalai Lama has not made an application to Taiwan. That’s the word from Presidential Office spokesperson Alex Huang on Thursday. Huang said any application to visit should follow regulations.

Two Taiwanese lawmakers visited the Tibetan spiritual leader in India last week. They invited him to visit Taiwan and to speak at the Legislature.

Huang said the Dalai Lama is a universally respected spiritual leader. He said the Dalai Lama has many followers in Taiwan and that he would welcome his visit.

The Dalai Lama last visited Taiwan in 2009 in the aftermath of Typhoon Morakot, which claimed the lives of over 700 people.
