Premier Lin Chuan visited the Central Emergency Operation Center on Sunday morning to oversee efforts to restore water and electricity in the areas hardest hit by a pair of typhoons which swept through Taiwan during the four-day Mid-Autumn Festival holidays.
Lin called on environmental protection officials to deal with a pair of oil leaks connected to boats damaged in the storm. He also called on TaiPower and Taiwan Water Corp. to send high-ranking officials to the affected areas in southern Taiwan to oversee repair efforts.
Meanwhile, Premier Lin called on workers to ensure that roads and schools are cleared and safe before students return to school on Monday following the holiday.
