The government has set up a trade negotiations office that began operating on Tuesday. Its purpose is to promote trade and diplomatic relations.
Cabinet spokesperson Tung Chen-yuan discussed the goals of the office. "The trade negotiation office was established today. Its mission is to continue to participate in the World Trade Organization’s talks for service trade agreements and environmental business agreements. It will also promote and execute the New Southward Policy as well as be a center to promote the Trans Pacific-Partnership," said Tung.
In addition to dealing with major trade issues, the office will also be responsible for talks related to food safety.
