Economics Minister Lee Chih-kung met with incoming Philippine diplomats stationed in Taiwan on Thursday to discuss economic cooperation projects between the two countries.
When asked if he discussed issues surrounding saving energy, Lee said that the talks are ongoing. Lee said is that Taiwan still needs to save electricity despite low electricity costs. He said there needs to be efforts to lessen demand on Taiwan’s power plants. Lee said with the current energy policies, the government hopes to work on lowering electricity use in the country by 1% each year.
