The government should build a society that allows people with disabilities to reach their goals just like everyone else. That’s the word from President Tsai Ing-wen on Friday.
Tsai was speaking at an exhibition of work by leading local artists with disabilities. The president said each of the pieces on display spoke of the artists’ work ethic and perseverance. She said the government is responsible for creating a society where people with disabilities are treated as equals and able to achieve success.
“We hope that people with disabilities don’t just shine in the area of the arts. I have said before that there are people with exceptional talent in all walks of life who have disabilities. It is the government’s responsibility to build a friendly and accepting society that allows them to achieve success in all fields," said Tsai.
