The Central Weather Bureau says it may issue a sea warning for Tropical Storm Megi as soon as Sunday evening.
As of Saturday, the storm was to the east-southeast of Taiwan, 1800km from the island’s southernmost point. The storm was approaching Taiwan at a speed of 22km/h. The Central Weather Bureau says that the storm will continue to strengthen as it approaches.
The storm will begin affecting weather in northern and eastern Taiwan on Monday, with wind and rain to continue through Tuesday and Wednesday. The Central Weather Bureau says that there is still some uncertainty about whether the storm could make landfall on Taiwan.
