President Tsai Ing-wen has praised Taiwanese businesspeople for helping establish ties with regional and global partners. She was speaking Monday at the opening ceremony of the 22nd World Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Taipei City.
Tsai said that the government will continue to offer assistance to Taiwanese businesses. She also said that Taiwanese businesspeople can offer assistance in three areas. Those include acting as private sector think tanks that can represent Taiwan, and strengthening collaboration with chambers of commerce.
Tsai also said Taiwanese business people can help bolster ties with other countries and work to bring in foreign investment.
“Overseas Taiwanese businesspeople and related organizations are very knowledgeable about the latest trends in different markets, and they have made a lot of connections. They understand what the foreign enterprises need and what Taiwanese businesses can provide," said Tsai, "Therefore, they are in the best position to help attract investment to Taiwan. I hope all of you here can work hard to promote the many advantages that Taiwan has to offer, and attract the interest of foreign businesses.”
Tsai also said that Taiwan’s investment climate will definitely improve. So she encouraged overseas businesspeople to invest back in Taiwan to help create a better environment for future generations.
